ALEX VIVAR
“My passion for the hair industry began only because of the void of a creative barber”
In the summer of ‘01, Alex left his hometown of NYC and relocated to the Hudson Valley. This move sparked his curiosity about how to cut his hair and the rest was history.
After spending years building The Great Studio in Poughkeepsie, New York, he wanted to create yet another one-of-a-kind space on Main Street; An area to get lifted with a haircut, a place to converse & let it all out, and a uniquely designed space that showcases local artists and hosts pop-ups & other social events.
Alex is known for giving haircuts that fit every client and for providing a personalized experience from the moment you walk through the door. He’s also passionate about the wellness of the body & mind, giving back to the community, sharing his cutting knowledge, and being creative in everything he puts his name on.
ALEJANDRO LOPEZ
Alejandro Lopez, also known as Alex, is a 24-year-old barber creative. He found his passion for barbering at an early age. While in high school, Alex found himself going into a rabbit hole of barbering how-to Youtube videos. Naturally, not long after, Alex bought himself his own set of tools and was ready to practice. He practically begged his brother to be let him cut his hair!
Ever since those early days of cutting, Alex knew that it was something he wanted to pursue. Barbering provided him a sense of creativity that he never knew he had, and it allowed him to express himself.
Seven years later, after being in the hair industry, has given Alex the experience to understand many hair textures and styles and to help give his clientele a custom style that fits them. He can humbly say that he has much to learn and grow and hopes to achieve his potential by bringing his talents to Vīdl, where he can improve his skills and provide the best experience to his guests.
BREVEN JON
Breven grew up in the hair industry and became fascinated with the art of barbering in his late teens. Both of his parents were hairdressers, so he never really understood what the barbershop was, but once he started going to get his haircut he was obsessed.
As a child, Breven’s mom had hopes that he would become a school teacher, but he was never interested. Twenty-five years later, and all Breven wants to do is educate and share his knowledge with others.
After years of working in different industries from food service to advertising and marketing, Breven decided to barber full-time at the age of 27. He then decided to go back to school and that’s where things finally hit - He knew was meant to do more than “ just cut hair “.
Being part of a team of barbers who are fully committed to growing and wanting to get better everyday is something he doesn’t want, but needs. Helping others improve is where he thrives. The energy and camaraderie of the barbershop is what he enjoys, but sharing the wealth of knowledge is what he loves.
EDGAR GARCIA
Edgar is an apprentice at Vidl where he hopes to give his clients an overall great experience and an even better haircut that’s specifically tailored to each individual.
While pursuing his barber license, Edgar came across The New York Master Barber Academy where he obtained his apprenticeship license. Before Vidl he was at Studio B Hair Collective working under Breven Zimmerman. This is where he continued his education and got taught by Charlie Gray, CjDaBarber, and Alexi Micheal.
When he’s not cutting hair, he enjoys playing soccer and connecting with others.
Edgar’s overall goal at Vidl is to bring out the best in others and further his education with the guidance of Breven, Alex and Dro. He hopes to one day be able to share his passion with and educate others.
KYRA HORNUNG
I’ve been licensed and doing hair for over half a decade and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. On my days off, I love to snowboard, downhill mountain bike, and ride my motorcycle.
I love the art of barbering and I see hair as a canvas. It’s a creative experience for myself and my clients. My favorite part is the refreshed confidence and smile clients have left my chair. I specialize in tapers, skin fades, and beards.
